News in general

We are still waiting for Galena to go into heat to breed her for our next litter. We were expecting it by mid-June, but so far no signs, so it will likely be early July before she is bred. That will give us pups in early September, ready for their new homes in early November. While the weather is starting to get cold, it’s still early enough to enjoy fine fall days outdoors with your little dood.

In other news, Amore, the matriarch of the clan, is now officially retired. She was spayed on June 10 and will henceforth be “just” our lovely family pet. She is starting to show her age a little bit – going grey in the tail! – and definitely took longer to recuperate from the spay surgery than the puppies do (though she also had some dental work done). But she is now pretty much back to her usual active and loving self.

Phoenix, the young and rambunctious golden girl, will be the next Mama in the household, though we don’t expect to breed her until early 2014 when she is approaching two years of age.

Watch this space for news of Galena’s mating within (we hope!) the next month.

June Doodle Romp

The June Doodle Romp is scheduled for this coming Saturday, June 22 at 4pm at the DragonRam HQ. We will meet at our house and then walk through the neighbouring fields & forest (and parking lots).

I ordered some agility equipment in early June and am hoping that it arrives in time for us to set it up and let the dogs try it out – a couple of jumps, tire jump, weave poles and a chute. Our dogs that have done agility just love it. If any of the pups come, they can do the chute and weave poles and we can set the jump to either very low or on the ground for them.

After the Romp per se, we are inviting people to stay on for a picnic supper. We will provide juice, watermelon, and rollkuchen (like beaver tails without the toppings). You can bring lawn chairs and whatever other food you’d like. It’s supposed to be a lovely day – 29 above and sunny – perfect for a picnic. Don’t forget water for your dogs!

Hope to see you there. Contact roma@dragonramdoodles.com to let us know you’re coming.
